Midnight, Texas Cancelled
Bad news Midnighters – NBC has cancelled Midnight, Texas. Per TVLine the show will not be returning for a third season, making next weeks episode a series finale.
Before we go and pledge ourselves to Theophilus in order to keep the show on the air remember that this year Netlfix saved Lucifer, Hulu revived Veronica Mars and NBC picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine from FOX. According to TVLine Universal, NBC’s parent company will shop the show to other outlets.
Originally a summer series, the ratings were just not what NBC had hoped. The long wait between seasons and the move to Friday nights did not help.
The opener drew 1.9 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, well below its freshman average (3 mil/0.7) and marking series lows. To its credit, Midnight has maintained those numbers throughout the season, with last week’s seventh episode (its first in the earlier 8 pm perch) actually climbing to a season-high 2.4 million viewers.
