Midnight, Texas Renewed for Season 2!

By  |

NBC announced today that Midnight, Texas will return for a second season – with some changes.

Per the news release, François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel and Jason Lewis are confirmed to return. Per Deadline, Yul Vazquez (weretiger Rev. Emilio Sheehan) and Sarah Ramos (Creek) are no longer regulars but will hopefully return as guest stars.

The real change comes behind the scenes: Monica Owusu-Breen who created the series and served as showrunner for season 1 has stepped down. Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo, who were consulting producers on Season 1, will serve as co-showrunners for Season 2. Snyder and Charmelo will also serve as executive producers alongside returning EP David Janollari. It will be interesting to see where they take the series in season 2, especially since so much of the material from the books has already been used.

Speaking of the books, in a statement, Charlaine Harris – the author on whose books the series is based – said, “I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of Midnight, Texas. I can’t wait to revisit my favorite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who’ve been asking me questions daily, will have their reward.”

As for when season 2 will air, NBC didn’t give a date but repeatedly referred to Midnight, Texas as a “summer series”, so hopefully we’ll be returning to our favorite dusty crossroads in just a few months.

Now over to you: are you excited for another season of Midnight, Texas? What are you hoping to see in season 2?

I'm a looooong time fan of Charlaine Harris and her novels. In 2008, I launched the first and (what became) largest True Blood fansite at True-Blood.net. When I heard that Midnight, Texas was in development back in January 2016, I immediately started planning a new fansite and eagerly awaited the show's premiere. Welcome!
